Orange County high school football fans will see action resume on Friday, Nov. 6, as the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs begins for most divisions. The schedule involves eighteen teams from the county, with games spread across various venues in Southern California. Most contests are set to start at 7 p.m., though specific times and locations may shift as the tournament progresses.
Division 2 features the largest number of local matchups, including Orange at Chaparral and Tustin at San Juan Hills. In Division 3, El Modena hosts Newport Harbor, while Edison plays at Oak Hills. Division 4 matches include Westlake at Dana Hills and Cypress at Cathedral. These early rounds determine which teams advance to later stages of the tournament.
The lower divisions also see several Orange County schools on the field. Division 5 includes Trabuco Hills at Moorpark. In Division 6, Lancaster plays at Laguna Beach, and Brea Olinda travels to Beaumont. Division 7 lists Laguna Hills at Desert Christian Academy. Division 8 sees South Pasadena at Segerstrom, Irvine at Fillmore, and Canyon at El Rancho.
The schedule extends through Division 14, with games involving Ocean View, La Salle, and Northwood in Division 9. Desert Hot Springs plays Sonora in Division 10. Nordhoff and Westminster compete in Division 11. Division 12 features Costa Mesa against Rancho Alamitos at Bolsa Grande High School, while Loara travels to Rubidoux. Division 13 includes Garden Grove at Anaheim, and La Quinta plays Santa Ana Valley in Division 14.
Unlike the other divisions, Division 1 does not begin its playoff run until Nov. 13. The CIF Southern Section has noted that all dates, sites, and times are subject to change. Updates to the schedule are being monitored by local sports editors, who are seeking corrections via email. The initial round sets the stage for the subsequent weeks of competition across the state.
