Olivia Rodrigo will release her first Christmas song on Thursday.
The single, titled 'take me home (4 christmas),' drops at 8 p.m. ET on November 5. Rodrigo wrote the track with Dan Nigro and Amy Allen. Nigro also produced the song. A music video will debut simultaneously with the audio release. The video features Rodrigo, Cynthia Nixon, and Ben Marshall from Saturday Night Live.
Rodrigo announced the release on Instagram. She wrote, 'my first Christmas song ‘take me home (4 christmas)’ is out this Thursday at 5 pm pt/ 8 pm ET!! you can preorder it now. im so excited!!' The post included a Santa Claus emoji and a red heart.
Fans can buy the song on physical formats. An exclusive 7-inch vinyl and cassette are available for preorder on Rodrigo's website. Target will also carry the vinyl. The record will appear on Target shelves on Friday, November 6.
This release follows the recent remix of 'expectations,' which features Chappell Roan. That track became the highest-peaking all-female collaboration on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. Its release pushed Rodrigo's third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, back to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Rodrigo is currently performing her The Unraveled Tour. The tour has sold over 1 million tickets worldwide.
The holiday single marks Rodrigo's first entry into the Christmas music genre. The physical media strategy includes limited edition formats for collectors. The tour continues to break venue records according to a press release.
