More than one million tickets have been sold for Olivia Rodrigo’s current tour, a figure that underscores the momentum behind her latest release. The pop star is set to debut her first holiday single, titled “take me home (4 christmas),” on Thursday.
The song arrives at 8 p.m. ET, which corresponds to 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Rodrigo confirmed the release date on Instagram, writing that she is “so excited” for the track to drop. She invited fans to preorder the digital single immediately.
The holiday release follows a busy period for the artist. Earlier this year, she issued a remix of “expectations” featuring Chappell Roan. That collaboration became the highest peaking all-female entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. The release also pushed Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, back to the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
Rodrigo wrote the new Christmas song with frequent collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen. Nigro also handled production duties for the track. The announcement included a new music video starring Rodrigo, actress Cynthia Nixon, and Saturday Night Live cast member Ben Marshall.
Physical formats are available for fans who prefer tangible media. An exclusive 7-inch vinyl record and a cassette tape are up for preorder on Rodrigo’s official website. Target stores will also carry the vinyl, with copies hitting shelves on Friday.
Rodrigo is currently on The Unraveled Tour. The sold-out run has broken several venue records, according to a press release. The tour continues as the new single launches.
