The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to parents regarding a popular toddler snack. The agency advised consumers to stop buying and serving the product after receiving reports of serious breathing incidents.
Once Upon a Farm is voluntarily removing all of its baked Tractor Wheels bars from the market. The recall covers every flavor, package size, and variety. It includes all lot codes and expiration dates currently in circulation.
The FDA stated that the product forms a dry, sticky mass when chewed. According to the agency, standard choking interventions, such as back blows and the Heimlich maneuver, may fail to dislodge the mass. Some reported incidents required emergency medical services and hospital observation.
The agency noted that several children suffered complete airway obstruction after consuming the bars. This condition left them unable to breathe. The FDA did not specify the total number of reports it received.
In a company statement, Once Upon a Farm said it received three reports of a potential choking hazard. CEO John Foraker said the company is reformulating the bars to meet high standards. He stated that the company's mission is to improve child nutrition by doing the right thing for customers.
The affected products include three specific flavor combinations. These are Apple, Sweet Potato, and Spinach; Strawberry, Pumpkin, and Beet; and Banana, Pumpkin, and Cauliflower. The bars are sold at Costco, Target, Walmart, and on Amazon.
Customers should not open or consume the recalled items. The company recommends returning the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or emailing care@uponafarm.com. No other Once Upon a Farm products are part of this recall.
