The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series. The victory gives the Brewers a chance to win the championship as early as Tuesday night.
Robert Gasser anchored the bullpen for Milwaukee, while the offense dominated the Rays from the start. The score reflects a lopsided game that effectively ends the Rays' hopes of leveling the series. The Rays would need to win four consecutive games to force a Game 7, a feat they have not achieved in this postseason.
Neither team has ever won a World Series. A Milwaukee win would secure the first title in the franchise's history. A Tampa Bay victory would mark the Rays' first championship, following a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. This matchup features two expansion-era teams seeking their first ring.
The Rays reached the World Series by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. Junior Caminero hit a key home run in that final game. This is Tampa Bay's first World Series appearance since 2020 and only their third in franchise history.
Milwaukee earned its place in the championship by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. The Brewers have not appeared in the World Series since 1982. Their 4-0 sweep of the Dodgers included victories in four straight games, with scores of 2-1, 7-4, 6-2, and 6-4.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be played in Tampa Bay and broadcast on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. If the series goes on, Game 5 will also take place in Tampa Bay on Wednesday, October 28, at 8 p.m. Eastern.
The final two games of the series, if necessary, will be played in Milwaukee. Game 6 is set for Friday, October 30, and Game 7 for Saturday, October 31, both at 8 p.m. Eastern. The Brewers hold the advantage of home field for the decisive matchups.
