Google Caps Gemini Android Chat List At Five Entries

Google began pushing a reworked side panel and consolidated settings page to the Gemini app on Android this week. The company is delivering the changes through a server-side update, so the revised layout is appearing in existing installs without a fresh download from the Play Store.

The navigation drawer now surfaces only five items on first view. A "More" entry expands the remainder of the list when tapped. Search has relocated to the top-right corner of the panel, New chat remains the first entry, and Library has moved up to sit directly beneath it rather than near the bottom of the drawer. For AI Ultra subscribers, the full sequence reads: New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.

Settings handling has changed as well. Preferences previously split between the account menu and a separate "Gemini Settings" area; Google has folded them onto one page. The account menu now handles account switching, feedback, and help. The new page opens with Manage account and Usage limits, then a Preferences block carrying Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. Theme is marked as new. Data & privacy follows with Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. Get support lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.

The same side panel and settings changes reached iOS, macOS, and the web app the prior week, alongside the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. Android devices are picking up the rollout now.

Other Gemini app changes in recent days include Gemini Notebook arriving as a Connected App, free users defaulting to "Auto" models as thinking levels were added, and a new "Map" tool that shipped after the "/" shortcut was replaced by "@".
