Ukraine Satellite Links Reach 400 km/h After Speed Caps Vanish
The Ministry of Defence confirmed stable high-speed connectivity by the morning of October 24, ending a period of throttled performance that hampered drone operations.

400 km/h is the speed Ukraine's military satellite links reached by the morning of October 24, according to official data from the Ministry of Defence. This figure marks a sharp increase from the 161 km/h cap that had constrained operations in recent days.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the restoration in a video address, stating that the Starlink and Starshield systems are now operating at the levels required for military use. "Now we have the speed we need," he said. The president noted that speeds began recovering overnight, allowing for better frontline logistics and improved defense against jet-powered Shahed drones.
Prior to the presidential announcement, defense forces and ministry experts recorded both systems functioning above 161 km/h. The Ministry of Defence subsequently issued an official statement confirming that the connection was stable at speeds exceeding 400 km/h.
The recent disruption forced equipment in several sectors along the line of contact to operate between 130 and 161 km/h. Zelenskyy previously described this range as insufficient for effective drone usage and logistics. The technical limitations created a bottleneck that the military sought to resolve quickly.
Political questions emerged regarding the cause of the slowdown. On October 16, Donald Trump stated that the White House had not been involved in limiting Ukraine's access to the satellite bandwidth. Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that Elon Musk proposed the bandwidth restrictions to Trump, linking the technical changes to a specific diplomatic initiative.
