The 2027 college football recruiting class saw several players move up in the latest SC Next 300 rankings. The update reflects performance from the first half of the high school season. Two prospects have now reached five-star status.
A'mir Sears, an athlete committed to Miami, moved to the No. 4 spot overall. He is a reclassification from the 2028 class and plays both ways. The source compares his range to Travis Hunter. Sears recorded three interceptions and two touchdowns against Bishop Gorman earlier this season. Miami values his secondary skills more than his receiving, but his playmaking ability makes it hard to keep him on the sideline during offensive drives.
Gideon Gash, a cornerback committed to Texas Tech, is ranked No. 21. He stands 6-foot-4 and ran a 4.2-second 20-yard shuttle. His game speed reached 21.6 mph. Gash also returns punts for the Michigan state record of six touchdowns. He offers versatility on offense, defense, and special teams, which gives Texas Tech flexibility in how to develop him.
Quarterback Israel Abrams, committed to Miami, ranks No. 55. He is 6-foot-4 and has improved his footwork and pocket movement this year. His arm strength allows him to make off-schedule throws. Miami's quarterback depth may depend on portal additions, but Abrams has one of the higher developmental ceilings in his class. Kentucky commit Jake Nawrot ranks No. 88 and has thrown 31 touchdowns with zero interceptions in his first eight weeks. He plays in an offense that uses vertical shots and full-field reads.
Running back SaRod Baker, committed to Texas Tech, is the all-time leading rusher at DeSoto High School. He ranks No. 40 and plays as a pinball-style back at 5-foot-11. He also lines up as a slot receiver. Wide receiver Branden Sharpe, committed to Indiana, ranks No. 258. He reaches 21 mph in games and excels in screen plays. He is a three-sport athlete who also plays basketball and track.
Safety Brady Scott, committed to Indiana, ranks No. 225. He is best around the box and can handle deep zone duties. He has traits similar to current Hoosier Preston Zachman. Wide receiver Briceson Thrower, committed to Texas, ranks No. 131. He is 6-foot-3 and ran a 10.9-second 100-meter dash. His height and speed combination is rare. Tight end Devon Myrie, committed to Eastern Michigan, ranks No. 246. He scored three touchdowns against IMG Academy, including two from at least 60 yards out.
Offensive lineman Jakari Lipsey, committed to Michigan, ranks No. 156. He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 285 pounds. He is a Michigan native who has become more explosive and nimble this season. His performance has stabilized compared to earlier in his career.
