Roope Hintz scored at 3:47 of overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at American Airlines Center on Thursday. The winning goal resulted from a breakaway pass delivered by defenseman Miro Heiskanen immediately after Jason Robertson blocked a Winnipeg scoring attempt.

The sequence began with a defensive stop that transitioned into an offensive play. Heiskanen sent Hintz to the net alone following the block, and Hintz finished the chance to end the game. The move converted a recovery into a decisive attack, preventing the Jets from maintaining possession after the initial stoppage.

Robertson’s involvement in the final play was mixed. He was credited with a turnover that created the Winnipeg chance, which his own block subsequently ended. The source described the sequence as a shared recovery rather than a play built solely by Heiskanen.

The workload on Dallas’s defense was heavy due to the absence of Esa Lindell. Heiskanen played 29 minutes and 20 seconds, while Thomas Harley logged 28 minutes and 27 seconds. The next highest total belonged to Lian Bichsel at 17 minutes and 47 seconds. Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also saw ice time during the match.

Winnipeg took an early lead in the second period when Johnston scored. Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor added goals for the Jets to extend their advantage. Dallas remained behind until Hintz scored a six-on-five equalizer with two minutes remaining in regulation, forcing the game into extra time.

The Stars outshot Winnipeg 38-19 but relied on goaltender Skinner, who made 35 saves to keep the contest close. Heiskanen finished the night with five shots, one block, and the game-winning assist. Harley went without a goal. The team did not establish a return date for Lindell or a revised defensive rotation following the game.
