Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes have become the central figures of a major weekend at the domestic box office.
The A24 documentary You Can See Everything secured the number one position, surpassing the DC Studios horror film Clayface. A24 confirmed the ranking to ABC Audio on Monday. The film generated over $11.4 million in ticket sales during the period, which raised its North American cumulative gross to $64.7 million.
Directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the three-hour documentary premiered on Oct. 16. It follows Holmes and her partner Billy Evans as they prepare for Holmes to begin serving her prison sentence for defrauding Theranos investors. The filmmakers allowed a crew to document the couple's daily routines in the weeks immediately preceding her incarceration.
Clayface finished in second place with $11 million in revenue, a difference of only $200,000 from the leader. The top five list included Wildwood at number three and Wicker at number four. The video game adaptation Street Fighter rounded out the chart at number five.
A24 indicated that the film has not yet opened in international markets. The studio plans to begin a wider overseas rollout in the coming weeks.
