Wisconsin women's tennis recorded a 7-0 victory in both legs of a Saturday doubleheader. The dual sweeps moved the Badgers to a 6-0 record on the season. This marks the program's best start since 1992.

The season began with a perfect mark. The team has won every match played so far. The most recent results came against Bradley and Green Bay. Both contests ended with identical scores.

Green Bay entered the second match with only five players available. The visiting squad could not maintain pace against the Badgers. Wisconsin established early dominance in the doubles events. Freshman MaryAnn Rompf and senior Kelsey Grambeau defeated Theresa Tebon and Tallie Piaskowski, 6-1. Sophomore Melissa Pick and freshman Lexi Keberle followed with a 6-0 win over Maria Neff and Samm Pedersen.

The team carried that momentum into singles play. No Wisconsin player lost a set in either match. Keberle, playing first singles, beat Tebon, 6-1, 6-1. She remains unbeaten in both singles and doubles, holding a combined record of 7-0. Rompf defeated Piaskowski, 6-3, 6-1, in the second singles match. Michelle Linden won at third singles against Sterre Tijssens, 6-1, 6-0. Pick shut out Neff, 6-0, 6-0. Christina Zordani beat Pedersen, 6-0, 6-1, at fifth singles to improve her season record to 5-0.

Head coach Kelcy McKenna attributed the performance to controllable factors. "They did a great job with the controlables: their attitude, their effort and their energy," McKenna said. "Those three things are extremely important to our success." She emphasized the need to focus on daily details to prepare for future competition.

McKenna identified specific areas for improvement despite the perfect record. She cited doubles serve and return execution as a priority. "We need to do a little bit of a better job cleaning up our doubles in terms of serves and returns," she said. The coach also stressed the importance of maintaining momentum from doubles into singles.

The Badgers are scheduled to host the National Team Indoor Championship from Feb. 9 to 12. The team will look to extend its unbeaten streak during that tournament.
