A 23-year-old resident of Givatayim was arrested Saturday night after pushing a member of Naftali Bennett’s security team. The incident occurred during a rally in Tel Aviv where Bennett, chairman of the B’Yachad party, called for a commission of inquiry into the October 7 massacre.
Witnesses reported that the man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, shouted “Only Bibi” while trying to close the distance to the former prime minister. He ignored repeated instructions from guards to stop and attempted to breach the perimeter.
After one guard pushed him back to maintain distance, the man turned and shoved the officer in return. The security detail immediately subdued him and held him at the scene until police arrived.
Officers apprehended the suspect in the park and transported him to a station for questioning. An initial review found he has no prior criminal record. Investigators are currently examining the specific circumstances of the altercation.
Bennett served as prime minister from June 2021 to June 2022. This event takes place just days before the 2026 Knesset elections, with military personnel already casting ballots at polling stations earlier this week.
