Spanish football fans will see the league table shift on Sunday if Barcelona wins at Camp Nou. The current champions hold a six-point lead over Real Madrid. A victory would extend that margin to nine points, securing a commanding position in La Liga. Conversely, a Real Madrid win would cut the deficit to three points and halt their recent struggles in this rivalry.

The path to this fixture has been uneven for Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s side suffered their first defeat of the season on Tuesday in the Champions League. They lost 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain. That result introduced uncertainty into the final days before the Clásico. Real Madrid, however, has maintained momentum. They have won four consecutive matches. This streak offers a confidence boost to a team that has lost six of its last seven Clásicos.

Attention will focus on José Mourinho, who returns to this specific rivalry. The 63-year-old manager has a history with both clubs. He managed 27 matches against Barcelona and 17 El Clásicos while in charge of Real Madrid. Florentino Pérez originally hired him in 2010 to counter Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. Mourinho aims to bring the La Liga title back to the Bernabéu. Cameras at Camp Nou will track his tactics closely.

Hansi Flick acknowledged the change in personnel before the match. He said he expects Madrid to arrive with "a lot of confidence." He expressed respect for Mourinho’s long-term success. "When you’re managing teams on this level for so many years and you always have success, it’s about quality," Flick said. He noted that his team is still in an initial phase of development after a short pre-season and international break.

Flick used the loss in Paris to identify areas for improvement. "We analysed this game. We did many things really good, but we saw some situations where we have to improve," he stated. He viewed the upcoming Clásico as a chance to grow as a unit. "We have to grow as a team. Tomorrow we play against one of the best teams in the world, so it’s a good opportunity to grow, to challenge ourselves, to improve ourselves and to grow as a team."

Both managers describe the match as unique. Flick called it the best match in the sport, noting that the importance extends beyond three points. "El Clasico is different. It is the best match in our sport, and everyone will watch it. It is incredible," he said. Mourinho agreed, stating that past form has no influence on the outcome. "Normally, the football world stops to watch it. Hopefully, it’s a great game and we win," he added.

The match is scheduled for Sunday. Barcelona will host Real Madrid at Camp Nou. The result will determine the size of the gap at the top of the La Liga table.
