Nicole Taylor, a singer with the country group Taylor Red, has died at age 35.
Her sisters and bandmates Nika Taylor and Natalie Taylor confirmed the news in a social media post on Monday. They described Nicole as being at peace and no longer suffering.
The three identical triplets originally formed in Mississippi in 2010 under the name Red Roots. They changed their band name to Taylor Red eight years later and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue their music career.
The group gained widespread attention online in 2021 when their track “Country Money” went viral on social media platforms. Nicole Taylor received a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer in 2022, one year after the song’s rise in popularity.
Natalie Taylor recounted the moment of diagnosis in a video shared with her sister. She described receiving a phone call from a nurse at a public location regarding biopsy results. The nurse informed Nicole of the cancer, causing Natalie to break down in shock. Nika Taylor also noted in the video that the medical process involved numerous MRIs, scans, treatments, and stressful appointments.
The sisters stated that Nicole’s condition later advanced to stage 4. The band’s website reports that she died on Sept. 28. A private funeral service was held for her. Natalie Taylor added that Nicole told the family she had peace shortly before her passing.
