Millikan's football program had more players sign Division I commitments than any other team in the area on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Six Rams student-athletes made their choices official, and two of them will join programs in Power Four conferences.

"It speaks to where the program is going, the direction we're going and what we're about," Millikan coach Romeo Pellum said. He added that the program is far from finished and expects 11 more players to sign at various levels.

Senior running back Anthony League, a three-star recruit and the Moore League Player of the Year, signed with Cal. League said he had dreamed of reaching this moment and is ready for the work ahead. He wants to bring a power running style to Atlantic Coast Conference football. "Any way, shape or form, I'm ready to help and execute the best way possible," he said.

Pellum considers League the best high school player he has coached. He also believes League and senior offensive lineman Maki Stewart have the talent to reach the NFL. Stewart, a three-star recruit, signed with Arizona State. "They both have the potential to play on Sundays," Pellum said.

Stewart said he is looking forward to playing in the Big 12. "I dreamed of it as a kid, and me going there now is making my dreams come true," he said.

Senior quarterback J.P. Mialovski, a three-star recruit and the Moore League Co-Offensive Player of the Year, signed with San Diego State and plans to enroll early in January. Mialovski said he woke an hour early to get ready and could barely sleep the night before because of his excitement.

Other Long Beach-area programs also saw notable signings. St. John Bosco senior defensive end Epi Sitanilei, a four-star recruit, signed with Ohio State after flipping his verbal commitment from UCLA. He will play in the Big Ten.

Long Beach Poly had two players sign with Arkansas of the SEC: senior quarterback Madden Iamaleava, a four-star recruit, and senior receiver Jace Brown, a three-star recruit. Both switched their verbal commitments from UCLA.

Warren senior offensive lineman Matai Jefferson, a three-star recruit, also signed with Arizona State. The Press-Telegram has compiled a list of area players who signed Wednesday and will publish another for those who sign during the regular signing period, which begins Feb. 5.
